Determining if a purchasers partner will be on title

Edited

What do you need to know?

Those listed on title are the names associated with ownership of the property in question. If a purchaser's partner is listed on title, that means they will be a registered owner of the property. It's important to note that whether or not a purchaser's legal spouse is listed on title, the spouse is automatically entitled to one-half of the matrimonial home.

Why does it matter to Ownright?

We need to know who will be listed on title so that we can properly register the property. Additionally, if a purchaser's partner will not be on title, we must request that they seek out independent legal counsel. As we are acting on the purchaser(s) behalf, it would be a conflict of interest to advise a partner, who will not be going on title, on how to protect their best interests.
