Determining a purchaser’s partner’s ownership status

Edited

What’s this about?

We set up our transactions based on the details outlined in the Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS). In some instances, spouses or partners are left off of the APS if they are unavailable for a signature on the date of offer, amongst other reasons. If a purchaser has indicated that they have a spouse or partner but that person is not included on the APS, we need to confirm that they are not intended to be an owner.

Why does it matter to Ownright?

We need to determine who is going to be an owner of the property in question in order to facilitate a property transaction. If a spouse or partner is not included as a purchaser in the APS, we will double-check that they are not intended to be an owner. If they are, we can add them to the transaction, but if they are not, we will leave them off.
